You can check your balance at any time by dialling 1244 from your Econet mobile number and selecting Option 1 from the menu. A balance by SMS can be requested by texting "BAL" to 1244. If you are roaming then the balance by text option should be used as you won’t be able to dial 1244 from abroad.

£5, £10 and £20 top-ups can be purchased as a card voucher from many retail outlets, as an electronic voucher from any outlet displaying a Paypoint or E-Pay sign or purchased online at www.econetmobile.com. Once a voucher is purchased top-up can be applied. Dial 1244 from the Econet number to be topped-up. Select Option 2 to top-up a balance, enter the 12 digit pin number from the voucher followed by #. The new balance will then be confirmed. To top-up by SMS text the word "TOPUP" followed by a space then the 12 digit pin number to 1244. A successful text top-up will be confirmed by return SMS. If you are roaming then the top-up by text process should be used as you won’t be able to dial 1244 from abroad.

Pin numbers for online top-ups are sent via email to the registered email address and not automatically applied to your account. If it is your first purchase then you will receive a phone call before the email is sent to verify your details. Online top-ups are provided by Euro Calling Cards, if you have not received an email then you should call Euro Calling Cards directly on 0207 488 0163 for assistance 8:30AM to 6:30PM.

Voicemail is set up on all Econet mobile numbers, you can dial 1233 to listen to your messages or change the settings of your voicemail at any time. Details of how to use your voicemail can be found in the information received with your sim. You can access your voicemail from another number or when roaming by dialling +447973 101 233. If accessing from another number you will need to have a security pin set up. To set a pin, voicemail should be accessed from the Econet mobile number and set by selecting Option 3.

If your handset hasn’t been used with an Econet sim card before then your will need to check your Service or Message Centre Number is correct. You can find this in the Message or SMS Settings within the main Settings menu. The number should be set to +447973100974.

Handsets are often locked (to prevent use with another networks SIM card). If you see a message like 'Enter Unlock Code' or 'Contact Service Provider' when you first put your Econet sim card in to your phone, you will need to contact your previous provider to obtain your handset unlock code and instructions. You may also be able to get this done through a local independent mobile store.

Econet sim cards work on the GSM1800 network. Dual, Tri or Quadband unlocked handsets will work with an Econet sims card along with handsets specifically made for the GSM1800 network only.
